Singer/actress Eiza González may be famous in her home country of Mexico, but the 23-year-old’s name has recently become a viral search term on social media in the United States thanks to photos of her snapped with “Hunger Games” hottie Liam Hemsworth just as news of the end of his 15-month long engagement to Miley Cyrus emerged. While we can’t fault Hemsworth for running straight to this bombshell Latina’s arms – really, have you seen Cyrus twerking? ouch! – we are curious about the gal who has managed to snap up one of young Hollywood’s hottest – and newly single – hunks. Here’s what you need to know:

Looking great – and giving serious face is in her genes
González has her gorgeous mother Glenda Reyna to thank for her killer looks. Reyna – once a successful model in Mexico – is González’s manager and TV personality, hosting Mexico’s version of “Next Top Model” for several seasons. But why work so hard? González’s father passed away when she was just 12 years old – leaving mom Reyna to provide for she and older brother Ezra.

She attended the same acting school as William Levy
Reyna was just 14 years old when she applied to and was accepted at Centro de Educación Artística (CEA) in Mexico City. The acting school – run by Televisa, Latin Americas largest producer of telenovelas – calls famous crossover star William Levy an alum. Think of CEA as the Mexican equivalent of the performing arts high school in the film “Fame” – except with much, much better looking people. And it seems like the training has paid off: recent projects include new music and voiceover work on the Spanish-language release of Disney’s “The Croods.”

González’s small screen connection to Colombian mega-star Sofia Vergara
González may have gotten her start on the 2007 teen novela “Lola…Érase una vez,” but her role as one of the female leads of the crime drama “Mujeres Asesinas” helped make her a household name in Mexico. And if the name of that novela sounds familiar, it’s because actress Sofia Vergara is the executive producer of the show’s English language remake that is set to hit U.S. televisions later this month.
She may look like a good girl – but she has a rebellious streak
González – who split from long time boyfriend Pepe Diaz in August – has at least five tattoos, including a cross on her right wrist, a mysterious tree symbol on her right foot, a pattern of stars on her neck, and a combination of initials and a small flower on her left foot.

González wants to be Hollywood’s next “It” girl
Move over, Miley! González may have been spotted kissing Hemsworth on Tuesday just after the two spent the weekend clubbing in Las Vegas, but the “The Acordarás De Mi” singer has her eye on the real prize: crossover stardom. In fact, the Mexican born and bred star recently moved to Los Angeles, in order to get her big break on English-language TV and films.
